This weekend, I have been getting ready for two different kind of shows. Today, I'll talk about the show and exhibit of my lamps. It has been a long time since I have had a show of my finer art work and this show will be special because of a lamp shade which I made to accent a wooden base. My daddy was a fine woodworker and before he died, he gave me a lot of his wood products so I could sell them. He never wanted to make a bunch of money from his crafts. He just enjoyed making and then almost giving his wood away. Daddy enjoyed seeing people smile when they received his special handiwork. So the photo collage in the upper left shows his lamp base with my handmade paper shade. I accented the shade with stained wooden pieces glued on the shade. I had a warm feeling the whole time I was making this lamp.
Next, I made a hanging lamp with my favorite flower to press--Queen Anne's Lace. It is a stunning combination and gives a natural feel and light. This looks so good in my den that I have decided to make a new lamp for our den which we remodeled recently.
The show and exhibit will be at The Updraft Gallery in Asheville. There will be a wine and cheese reception Friday night from 6-8 pm. If you are in the area, I'd love to talk with you.
