What is marbled or marbling, you ask?
Well it is my next favorite art form. It was started in the 17th Century by floating paint on a thickened water surface. Crafters would travel from town to town plying their art form. Calligraphers would hand write the town laws on papers which had been marbled. It was the way to legalize documents because the surface would become scuffed or scarred if anyone tried to erase and change the words.
So beauty and legality were merged.
Today, marbling uses environmentally friendly materials and decorates garments. The one in the picture has two layers of paint. A friend says it looks like a Blue Morpho from Costa Rica.
